The rpm issue you note leads me to a possible timing problem. Have you verified the ignition timing @15 BTDC and operation of the timing advance with increased rpm? Maybe the CAS has an issue? What about sluggish variable cam timing solinoids at the rear of the heads? Have you checked the fuel pressure? Has the timing belt been serviced? Maybe there is a skipped tooth? I'm running out of items! ;)
